Incarnation

Forsaking galaxies as your footstool

Shunning thunder and fearsome quake

Divinity chose a frail corpus

Of blood, bone, and beating heart

Mundane material for eternal purpose.

We find encouragement

In your example.

That frail flesh was made to house

The presence of God in the world.

Power revealed in the indistinct.

Bringing us your commentary

On the good and beautiful.

We sense the surface

While you perceive the heart.

Common artifacts once gaunt and drab

Shine like the sun in your hands.

Now brimful with a brilliance

Beyond their simple dimensions.

You infuse ordinary things with a beauty

They never could have imagined

On their own.
